Todd Hatfield
Todd lives in the Greater Chicagoland area and has been an educator for over 25 years. His love for this country was instilled in him by both his father and grandfather, who played a central role in his upbringing. Todd comes from a proud legacy of military service that dates back to the French and Indian War, with both grandfathers serving during World War II and his father serving in Vietnam.

Todd’s passion for helping others led him—by chance—into volunteering with A Soldier’s Journey Home more than a decade ago. What began as a personal act of service quickly evolved into a meaningful educational experience for his students. Over the years, nearly 50 of his students have joined him on builds across nine different states, logging nearly 15,000 miles while learning firsthand the power of compassion, service, and community. For Todd, the greatest lesson he can teach is simple: the art of giving back.

Todd and his wife, Valerie, have been together for over 20 years and are the proud parents of two sons, Vaughn and Corbin. Giving back has become a family tradition—the entire family has volunteered side by side since 2021, embodying the spirit of service and making a lasting impact together.
